Samsung Moment and its Lovable Design

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

The first Android phone from Samsung is the Moment that is now exclusive to Sprint. It now on its inspiring requirements such as an 800 MHz processor and a simply stunning 3.2-inch, HVGA, AM-OLED display, along with the usual suspects like a GPS receiver, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi b/g wireless networking.

This Samsung Moment has something on an edge that can make people be impress from this. It has a unique look that is somewhat different than most phones, a bit cooler but not so peculiar that you’ll feel strange using it in public. Its cool cutout design at the top of it can really amaze you and find it to be so oddly attractive. You’ll find it to be strangely appealing because everything is wrap on silver and black color and has a rounded edge.

When you take a closer look on it, you’ll find out that the Moment is larger than its siblings and its color scheme and soft touch material on its battery cover put it more in line with the Hero. It is a slider-style device, with the top screen portion of the device in silver, with the bottom portion (including the QWERTY keyboard) in black.

It is a solid device with a sturdy build. It has a large side for about 4.6 x 2.34 x 0.63 inches, and you can notice its extra bulk the moment when you put the device in your pocket. This device is not as wide as you think but rather thicker, a bit longer than an iPhone, and quite heavy for a bout 5.67 ounces for any kind of cell phone.

The slider mechanism is adequately stiff and the handset has a firm feel in the hand. You can notice, though, that when the slider is open the Moment feels a bit top-heavy. When typing, be sure to steady the back of the slider with your fingers.

Its Call and Disconnect buttons are on the bottom of the screen and the buttons and controls are just minimal. It has an optical joystick and its Home, Menu, and Back buttons are touch-sensitive as well.

On the left side of the Moment is its volume control, on the top is a standard headphone jack attached by a cover when not in used and on the right side are Camera button and voice recognition button. Sync/charge port is also hidden because of its cover that can be found also on the right side. You do have to remove the battery to access the slot coz its microSD slot is underneath the back cover of the device.

The shinny and brilliant look of the Moment is noticeable by our naked eyes. But can you ever imagine as time goes by that this kind of device can have damages such as scratches or a dust attached under its screen due to its old age? Motorola W230: Motorola has recently unveiled a new entry level mobile phone specifically targeted towards the Indian market the Motorola W230. The W230 is part of Motorola’s MotoYuva series, which highlights music capabilities more than anything else. It therefore comes with a pre-installed memory card worth 256 megabytes. It’s quite the far stretch from the usual 10 Mb that ships with most mobile phones with more features than this one, which is a pleasant surprise. What’s more, it is expandable to up to 2 Gigs that is enough for more or less 500 songs, should one choose to purchase and upgrade.

Nokia N70: For cell phone and non-cell phone aficionados (if there ever was such a thing in this day and age) alike, the Finnish brand Nokia is a name that needs no further introduction. It is one, if not the forerunner in the cellular phone industry for many years now, and it’s safe to assume for the next few decades to come. Nokia has been churning out model after model of gorgeous handsets since its first inception. This is why one can easily get lost in the model number confusion that arises. But among the cell phone bed of roses from Nokia, an elegant thorn arises pricking every one’s interest, and the Nokia N70 is one of them.

Nokia 6233: As if to solidify their mark in the mobile phone market, Nokia offers us another gem with the Nokia 6233. It’s a candy bar type phone with all the right perks for the modern user, including 3G capabilities. A definite budget solution for those looking for 3G functionality but do not want to splurge too much cash on a smart phone. Being labeled with the 6233 means it may be the worthy successor to the line of Nokia 62 series such as the 6230 and its follow up, the 6230i.

Sony Ericsson T270: Last January 24, 2008 in Delhi, India, the Sony Ericsson merger announced the launch of two new budget phones: The Sony Ericsson T270 and its big brother, the T280. They are a pair of affordable mobile phones with a definite flair for design. The similar looking phones are a pocket sized candy bar featuring a sleek brushed light metal with glass finish and comes in two color combinations; the Silver and Black and the sure to be a hit Copper and Silver combo. The only noticeable difference between the two is the absence of a camera lens at the back of the T270. But before you faint at the idea of a phone not having a camera – be aware first of the target audience of the T270, for it is definitely not a phone not for everyone.

Palm Treo 500v: Newer versions of mobile phones are being made to cater to the more intimate needs of the user. Every cell phone has a specific feature that may be designed to your advantage. As our technology grows, the mobile industry also takes a step further. Treo is not new to these upgrades and technological demands. In fact, it has recently released the Palm Treo 500v. It is the newer version of the smartphone; which vodaphone recently launched around the world, especially in Europe.
